What West Ashley does to a car

The oaks. The live oaks along Avondale and the older streets off Savannah Highway are the best thing about the area and the worst thing about parking under them. Sap and bird droppings are acidic — leave them baking on a hot panel and they etch into the clear coat rather than sitting on it.

Pollen. Spring coats the whole Lowcountry, and a car parked outside here gets a fresh layer most mornings for weeks.

Still salt air. You're inland of the peninsula but not out of reach of it. It's gentler than Mount Pleasant or the islands, but it's there.

All three are reasons a sealant is worth more than a wash. It doesn't stop anything landing on the paint — it stops it bonding, so when we or you wash the car it comes off instead of staying put.

Driveways here work well for us. Most of West Ashley is single-family homes with their own spigot and outside outlet, which is all we need. Condo or shared parking? Tell us when you book and we'll work out whether we can access water and power.

Sap that's bonded to the clear coat is exactly what the clay bar stage is for — it lifts contamination mechanically rather than scrubbing at it. Sap that's already etched into the paint is a different problem; tell us when you book and we'll take a look.
We can, as long as there's a water spigot and a power outlet we're allowed to use, plus a parking spot with room to work. Mention it when you book so we can check before the day.
